Nghiên cứu thực hiện phân rã động tăng trưởng năng suất gộp nhằm tìm hiểu các nguồn gốc của tăng trưởng năng suất và đánh giá vai trò của quá trình tái phân bổ lao động trong tăng trưởng năng suất gộp của các doanh nghiệp ngành công nghiệp chế biến chế tạo Việt Nam, bao gồm các doanh nghiệp hiện hữu, doanh nghiệp mới gia nhập và doanh nghiệp rút lui. Kết quả cho thấy cải thiện nội bộ doanh nghiệp, thành phần tái phân bổ giữa các doanh nghiệp và tỷ lệ gia nhập ròng có tác động tích cực tới tăng trưởng năng suất; trong khi, thành phần tương tác có tác động ngược lại.
